Vibe Coding a Mobile App From a Small Idea
Vibe coding is particularly useful for exploring small Android app ideas because it helps turn a rough workflow into something you can run and evaluate quickly.
Describe the user journey first
Before asking for screens, describe what the user is trying to accomplish from opening the app to finishing the task. This gives the implementation a useful center of gravity.
For a file utility, that might mean choosing a file, inspecting it, and returning to the result. For a learning app, it might mean selecting a lesson, practicing, and reviewing progress.
Build one complete slice
A working slice is more informative than several disconnected screens. It should include enough state, navigation, and feedback to test whether the idea feels useful on a real device.
Once that slice is understood, additional features can be added with better confidence.
- Map the journey before the UI
- Choose one end-to-end workflow
- Test touch, back navigation, and interruptions
Review generated code like a maintainer
Generated code still needs a careful review for unnecessary dependencies, unclear state handling, and behavior that only works in the happy path. Fast creation is valuable when it leads to code you can still own.
